REPORTED WELL AHEAD
OF THE BALLOTING
STARTED THAT NEITHER
WILL WIN

Here is the verdict:
"CARICOM Chairman, Dr.
Denzil Douglas, says the
region is happy that the
stalemate for the vacant Latin
American and Caribbean
Group seat on the United
Nations Security Council is
over. After 47 rounds and five
days of secret balloting in
which Venezuela and
Guatemala remained
deadlocked for a
non-permanent seat on the
UN body, both countries this
week finally agreed to
nominate Panama as the
compromise candidate."
